I made this! Halloween Album, part 2

I hope you all had a great weekend and I wish you all an even better week ahead.

This is continued from part 1 here

And this is the rest of the album I made.

I forgot to show the inside front cover and 1st page.

The skull pulls out and can be written on and a picture added.

This is another page and I got to use one of the all over punches that Martha Stewart makes. They are very cool and work really, really well.

The card behind is red and the spider and web is the punched out black paper.

Ravens marching along the bottom of the page.

Another skeleton page. This is one of my favorite punches, Jodi and I call this iron gate, probably not the name but we like it.

This is a great page and the colors are standard Halloween. I love it. A photo will fit under the moon and bats on the right page.

This one is a favorite. I love the whole book. The vampire and the moon are printed on plastic. The tombstone is also.

Two paper is silver and gray are for photos and writing.

This is another favorite. The witch is one of the best pre made decorations I have seen for Halloween. The cloak is velvety.

How about that spider web and spider border? Another Martha! She rocks on these punches in my opinion.

And the final page is back to the raven theme again.

The book is full and it was so fun to do. I mean how much better can it get when you go hang out with a dear, dear friend and make something awesome that makes you smile too!!

Lucky me!

Have a good week.

Black and White Canes- Atomic age influences part 2

From the Kibster Vintage shop on Etsy, vintage Atomic Bowls

This is continued from the Black and white canes, part 1 is here:

You will need:

Black Cernit 1- 2.2 ounce block

Opaque White Cernit 1-2.2ounce block

Porcelain White Cernit large block (Just says White, not Opaque white)

Clay blade SB

Clay Machine

Mix the black and the opaque white with equal amounts of the porcelain white until it is one color. You do not have to do this but I like the consistency of the Porcelain white and it keeps my colors soft and pliable. If your porcelain white is not soft this will not work.

All links above lead to my hubby’s store

as always, thank you so much for looking. We both appreciate you immensely.

11. Take the 6″x 1″ strip and trim all of the edges so they are straight. if you already did this, yay!

12. Lay the strip on top of a white sheet that has been rolled out on the 4th thickest setting in the clay machine.

Trim the white sheet to the top, the bottom, right side and the left side of the black sheet.

13. Lay the black and the white strip on top of the extra white sheet.

14. Now trim the bottom white sheet to match the one you have laid on top of it.

15. It will look like this.

16. Roll a coil of black that is 3/16″ in diameter and the length of the stacked sheet you just made or 6″ long.

17. Place the coil of black on one end of the stacked sheet.

18. Roll out some more white on the 4th thickest setting in the clay machine. It will need to be at least 6″ long by 2 1/2″ wide.

Place the stacked sheet and coil on top of the sheet of white.

19. Trim off the left edge of the sheet to match the stacked on and the coil.

Trim the top and the bottom to match the top and the bottom of the stacked sheet and coil and fold the sheet and the stacked one and coil over to the right on the new sheet of white. You will be covering the stacked sheet and the coil.

20. It will look like this.

21. With a knitting needle or pointed tool run it down the length of the sheet where the coil is. Do not press very hard, just push the clay in there. Do both sides of the new covered stack.

22. It will look like this.

23. Cover the whole thing with another sheet of white clay that is rolled out on the thickest setting.

24. It will look like this.

Very nice job.

Stay tuned for part 3…

Black and White Canes- Atomic age influences part 1

I found this beauty at No Pattern Required a great blog written by Retro Ruth

I thought I would start another cane series while I had some spare time ;-D and I thought that playing in black and white would be great fun for me and hopefully you will enjoy it too!

I love black and white, simple, clean, and only two colors to purchase.

I am fascinated by the Atomic age designs in the 50’s. You can find examples by searching “atomic prints fabric” in google images, fun stuff, reminds me of the Jetson’s. They first aired on TV in 1962.

You can find some great examples of mid-century wall paper designs here

I spent just a little time in this blog with all of their 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s stuff and I feel better. A walk down memory lane for me. What a Blast.

Mind you, I disliked this stuff very much as a kid growing up with it, but I feel comfort in it now and miss it a little.

This reminds me of security, not having to worry, and black and white TV! It is like “comfort designs” instead of “comfort food” ;-D

If your porcelain white is not soft this will not work.

as always, thank you so much for looking. We both appreciate you immensely.

1. Roll out the black on the 3rd thickest setting in the clay machine and cut two strips 1″ wide by 4″ long and one 1″ wide by 6″ long.

2. Put aside the 6″ long strip for a bit and roll out some of the Opaque white on the 4th thickest setting. Make the sheet of white at least 8 1/2″ long.

Place the black strip on the white clay.

3.Trim the white clay on the left and the right side of the black strip and then trim the bottom edge. Fold the black and the white section over on the white sheet.

4. Trim around the black strip again and cut off the end too. Your strip will be covered like this.

5. Tuck the end that is covered with white (the end that I am holding in the picture above) in and roll up the strip like a cinnamon roll.

6. Like this.

7. Press the outside edge that is white to the coil.

8. Pinch a little waist in the middle of the coil(cane) by placing the thumb and forefinger of one hand in the north and south position on the cane (coil) and the thumb and forefinger of the other hand in the east and west position of the coil/cane. Push together on all sides at once and rotate the coil/cane up and to the right or left a little(which ever feels right to you). Pinch again and continue rotating and moving up the cane till you get to the end. Turn the cane/coil over and starting the middle work your way up the other end of the coil.

9. When you have reduced the cane/coil to half the size roll on the work surface to smooth and lengthen while extending. Roll out to about 6″ in length, roll down to about 3/8″ in diameter.

Cut the coil/cane in half.

10. Trim off the other end till the distortion is gone.

You will need 2″ for the cane we are going to make.

Put the rest of the cane/coil aside for later use.

Stay tuned for part 2…

Happy Monday.

Monday Updates- I have opened another Etsy store

I have opened another Etsy store.

I am not crazy enough. ;-D

Please come take a look. Click on the banner or the link.

Thank you so much for looking.

Happy Monday, blessings all over you all.

Start the week believing miracles can happen and then go out and look for them.

You are perfect.

Monday Updates- How are you doing in 2011?

Me, I am gathering myself up! I feel like I am scattered from one side of the planet to the other.

I am having a hard time focusing on anything for any period of time.

We had a wonderful Christmas, it was all about Madi too! She got so many fun things to play with and some very cool clothes.

there is a very big grin on her face

I think that children make the magic of Christmas. I miss that in my life, the excitement, the belief in magic, and the law of attraction. I felt like I could wish for almost anything and get it when I was little. LOL!! Didn’t you? Why does that go away?

Madi gives that back to me and I loved it.

She loves opening presents. She will even help others open theirs. She even says cute stuff like awwwwwww! in a little munchkin voice.

I had an incredible Christmas, I have family that are very very dear to me all year long and they worked very hard to make this a wonderful Christmas for me. The thoughtful things just kept coming. It really helped to give me some hope for the New Year and a breath of light in my life. After the never ending drudge from the last few years, this was exactly what I needed to believe in magic a little again.

I need something to change the view I had been looking at for so long and that is exactly what I got. How can it get any better than that?

Now in to the 2nd week of this new year, I am feeling positive and looking forward to the miracles and grateful and know that when they come I will be able to see them!!

Thank you, all of you, I am very lucky to have you!

Happy Monday my friends, may you be luckier than me!! I wish that so much for all of you!

How are you doing in the 2nd week of 2011? Do you feel the hope?

Do not forget to enter the 18th giveaway either here

Oh and thank you so so much for all your prayers, healing thoughts, and well wishes for my friend Susan, she is doing really well and has a great attitude and is trying hard to rest and take it easy. It is hard to hold that woman down.

Monday Updates- Another week

I am exhausted, blissfully, and my hands are so dry from the paper.

It started on Friday night, I got to Jodi’s about 9pm and we started right away. We finished the birdhouses that night.

I always bring my homemade Hummus. I do have to say that I think it is the best hummus I have ever eaten in my life and I have eaten tons of it, even in Israel.

It was very, very good in Israel, very good, but I like mine better (IMHO). We ate hummus and chips and made a huge mess. I was feeling totally gratefully for the place to escape to, the companionship from one of my favorite people, the craft craziness, and the good food.

Lucky, lucky me.

This is the table about 12 midnight

We stayed up till 3 am. Crazy, I know, and Jodi had been up since 5 am that morning.

She adores paper, it revs her right up. You can feel the love of it coming right off of her like waves when something floats her boat or she shows you something new.

We laughed and laughed and time flew by, I do not think either one of us realized what time it was.

When we finished the houses we started to make a small 10# envelope mini.

We had been planning to do something Steampunk.

She likes it too, but this is something that truly floats my boat.

My side of the table

What a mess. I am going to post more tomorrow with the winners to the  17th giveaway!!

I just wanted to let you know I was still alive!

Talk to you tomorrow!

Have a great night.

Monday Updates

Hi all, missed posting this morning, sorry. Busy weekend.

Wrote the rest of the Marie-tangle tutorial and posted that- one more part to come on how to make the little spacer beads.

I am thinking about adding little sparkle beads to that. They might be nice with those tangle tube beads  too. It will probably go up in the next couple of days. Taking pictures for that.

Loaded a lot of things in to my shop Art from my Heart at Etsy. Took tons of photographs and edited a lot of them.

Got another cold or got so cold I got the previous cold back, too cold here. 28 degrees last night, white everywhere this morning. No snow, just frozen grass, roofs, and cars. It is beautiful in its own special way.

Maybe I can get a picture. I must have the camera ready and get up before the sun does though.

As soon as the sun comes out it goes away. It is so cold though I would rather stay in bed.

It has been like this for a few days. We are all freezing. I know it sounds like whining and it is, but we have a little space heater and no forced air heating, don’t really need it most of the time. LOL! Couldn’t afford to use it if we had it anyway. Insulation would be nice too. Don’t need that in old houses in southern California either, right?

Madi and I are sitting on the couch as I write this, bundled up in 3 blankets, eating breakfast, and watching Curious George. Oh… that is the reason I love the cold and not having very much heat in this house, Love it!!

Or I need feet jammies like Madi’s.

I have been playing with paper and I have a very talented and giving woman and website to share with you.

It is Laura and her blog The Paper Trail. What a wonderful place to spend a bunch of hours and learn something too. She has an etsy store if you like kits and instructions “Following the Paper” on Esty. She also has an Ustream and you can watch her put things together.

On Friday and Saturday she has live broadcasts and chats. My friend Jodi got me hooked on Laura and we made some of the Birdhouses for gifts for family on the weekend I told you about the marathon crafting. I am so happy with how they turned out and I am now absolutely addicted.  Jodi is very good at this. I have already made some angel feet out of granite Cernit for another house to sit on. I love them.

I am now making envelope scrapbooks you can see the You tube here.

Thank you Laura for all you do!

Being a holiday weekend, I had lots of time to work, it was so nice.

It is hard to do most of this stuff with a very smart and busy little girl. I have to do as much as I can on the weekends.

Have a great week everyone!!

Be creative and do not forget to smile at a stranger. You just never know whose life you might make better.

Hope you all had a great weekend.

If you live in the US, I hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend.

Stay warm especially in your heart.
